The French Embassy, IFAN (Indo French Alumni Network), CampusFrance and French Information Resource Centre, are very happy to invite you to the 12th  CAFÉ DES SAVOIRS. It will be inaugurated by Mrs. Dominique de Gasquet – Chargée de Mission Universitaire at the French Embassy.

Theme of the Presentation: “Graphic Novel and Comics”, guest speakers at this “Café des Savoirs” are :

- Amruta Patil is a writer and an  artist, whose work aims to seamlessly blend text and image. She is the author of a graphic novel (Kari, HarperCollins India, Jan 2008), and co-editor of Mindfields : a magazine about ideas and alternative education. She is currently working on a graphic novel based on the Indian epic, the Mahabharata. Amruta has an abiding love for mythology and history, and a growing interest in sustainable living. You can view Amruta's writing and artwork on http://amrutapatil.blogspot.com   She is an IFAN member and went to Angoulême  to write in residence at La Maison des Auteurs in January 2009 till January 2010.

- Jean-Pierre MULLER, is a First secretary –Trade & investment at the Belgium Embassy. He earned his degree in Business Administration from the “HEC Graduate School of Management”, University of Liege with a major in International and Consular relations. In 2007, he successfully completed a training programme on “How to launch a successful start-up technology company” at the Jones Graduate school of Business, Rice University (Houston, Texas).Laureate of the “Belgian Minister of Foreign Trade Fund”, he started his international career as an intern in the Embassy of Belgium in Yaoundé (Cameroun) in 1983. Later he was successively posted in Islamabad, Karachi, Shanghai, Houston and, since November 2007, New Delhi

Theme of the debate :
 - “The Year of Exile” with Amruta Patil and “From Tintin to Titeuf : “The Belgian-French Comic Strips A unique cultural phenomenon in the world” with M. Jean-Pierre Muller

On the occasion of this “Café des Savoirs” a presentation on Higher Education opportunities in arts in France will be given by CampusFrance at 5.30 pm.

Note to editors: This interactive debate is the continuation of our efforts to promote together with CampusFrance, the attractivity of the French Higher Education System, in order to increase the mobility of Indian students towards France.

IFAN- With 100 patrons and 7000 members, IFAN is an initiative of the French Embassy to create a platform that facilitates linkages between Alumni, students and the diverse body of people, whether businessmen, artists, engineers, scientists, civil servants, administrators, journalists. The IFAN network creates a link between institutions of Higher Education and the corporate world both in India and in France, which make it easier to recruit the alumni and enhance the value of their French or Indian experience as an asset. IFAN will become a registered association in 2010.

This interactive debate called "Café des savoirs" is a new concept existing since October 2008 and offering the possibility for students to exchange ideas with speakers who are experts on the topic. Cafés des Savoirs" will continue a series of multidisciplinary debates “Débat d’idées”. It has covered a range of interesting and exciting topics with the expertise of guest speakers belonging to the academic, corporate, scientific, artistic world.

“Duration: 1 hour, accompanied by tea / coffee & snacks. The next Café des Savoirs with Ingrid Terwath on “Indian diaspora in francophone territories at” JNU. Date to be confirmed.
